OUR TEAM
Members of our team have spent years working in South East Asia - examples of their work include setting up volunteer programmes for universities, coordinating group trips to historical sites, teaching English in remote places, helping to launch newspapers in refugee camps, facilitating radio stations being built in conflict zones and more. This time spent on the ground builds invaluable trust and understanding. Sometimes the best way to learn about things is to sit for hours drinking tea chatting with the local people - that’s something we have plenty of experience in!
OUR MISSION
Providing access to the best experiential learning opportunities across South East Asia.
OUR VISION
To be an experiential learning leader that drives effective, meaningful and measurable experiential learning.
WHO WE WORK WITH
We work directly with local leaders, experienced travelers, and volunteers. With this local knowledge and experience, we are able to connect with community-based organizations, family-run businesses, monasteries, social enterprises, and schools - each one delivering real impact to their local community. All our trips have been approved by local leaders and the community, without this, we wouldn’t have access to some of the places we will visit.
OUR PARTNERS
Every experience that we offer will strengthen the communities we visit, preserve their culture and traditions. The research we have done and the knowledge we have gained means that all you need to do is think about having the trip of a lifetime. With our local connections, extensive research, travel experiences and years of knowledge gained working on the ground, we are able to locate the most unique experiential learning and travel experiences for you.
We are partnered with Foundation For Shared Impact and The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Business and Economics, among others.
OUR FOUNDER
Our Founder, Carl Browne, has worked in the community development field within South East Asia for the last 15 years. Having seen the need for quality experiential learning projects, plus having a trusted network of contacts, the creation of ELA was the next natural step.
After designing and creating experiential programmes for multiple organizations from universities to primary education institutes, ELA now creates world class, impactful trips for both participants, and the local stakeholders involved, across the continent.
